Easy to learn! Easy to teach! The Alabama Stock Market Game (SMG) is an exciting 10-week, on-line stock trading experience. Students begin with $100,000 and may purchase stocks and mutual funds and make any number of trades with their available funds. The teams with the most valuable portfolios at the end of the 10 weeks win their division. Fall Game: September 29 – December 5 and Spring Game: February 2 – April 9
Who plays?
- Grades 4-12
- Public and private schools, and non-profit youth organizations
- 7,000 students at over 125 schools in 2007-08
Registration: www.stockmarketgame.org
Cost: $15/team with 10% discount for 5 or more teams. Need-based scholarships are available.
Divisions: Grades 4-8 and 9-12 play in separate divisions; state divided into North and South
Teams: One to five students per paid team; four to five students per scholarship team
Cash Prizes: Top five teams in each division receive cash prizes; top ten teams receive drawstring backpacks.
On-line prizes: Students and teachers have a chance to win on-line prizes regardless of portfolio value
Training and Curriculum materials: All free and correlated to Alabama State standards. Lesson plans for every subject and grade level including:

- Business Education
- Technology
- Consumer Science
- Gifted

The Alabama Stock Market Game is the only stock and mutual fund in-school experience approved by
The New York Stock Exchange, the Securities Industry and Financial Markets Association, and
the Alabama Securities Commission.
